Tom Hardy talks Elton John, pays tribute to “special” James Gandolfini

Tom Hardy has paid tribute to the late James Gandolfini, describing the Sopranos star as “incredibly kind” and “very special”.

Hardy appeared opposite the actor in his final film The Drop, which was previously known as Animal Rescue. He told Digital Spy and others that he “warmed” to Gandolfini very quickly.

“He was lovely. He was a very special man,” Hardy said at The Sun Military Awards last night (December 11). “He was an incredibly kind and generous human being.

“He’s very warming and I warmed a lot to him. I really, really loved James.”

Hardy also spoke about becoming Elton John for new biopic Rocketman, confirming that he has been getting tips from the iconic singer.

“It’s all sort of a bit under the radar at the minute, but yeah, I am [speaking to him],” said Hardy, who named ‘Honky Cat’ as his favourite song by the performer.

Asked if he has been taking singing lessons, the Dark Knight Rises actor replied: “Oh yeah. All the time. I’m always singing.”
