Tom Hardy’s ‘Everest’ has officially gone into pre-production, according to the film’s page on IMDB. The status of the film changed from ‘In Development’ to ‘Pre-production’ on April 5th, which means that we’re on step closer to seeing the film on screen.
Although it doesn’t have a confirmed release date, the film is being set up to come out sometime in 2014, likely in the fall for awards season. The film is based on a true story, and is about a British mountain climber in the 1920s named George Mallory who makes multiple attempts to scale Mt. Everest. This is just one of the multiple Everest projects in development, but the status update to pre-production means that this might be the first we actually see in theaters.
In other Tom Hardy news, he recently landed at #5 on the Sun’s list of ’10 Sexiest Males’. Henry Cavill came in at #4, Jason Statham at #3, David Beckham at #2, and Benedict Cumberbatch at #1. Other than Hardy, the only other actor on that list that has gained their popularity from a superhero movie is Henry Cavill with ‘Man of Steel’.
‘Everest’ will be directed by Doug Liman, and is based on a book by Jeffrey Archer, with Sheldon Turner penning the script. Right now, only Hardy has been confirmed for the cast, but we should expect to see hear some casting news soon as the film gets underway.
